Another local
track is Closed.
http://abilenedragstrip.com/
To our great
sponsors, racers
and fans:
Due to
circumstances
beyond our
control and the
failure to sell,
lease or retain
an operating
partner, we will
no longer be
able to open the
Abilene
Dragstrip. We
will truly miss
our racing
family. Thank
you so much for
your patronage
and support for
the past four
years.

Dallas Raceway
Joins Other
Struggling
Tracks, Closes
Its Gates
Following an
all-too-familiar
trend, Dallas
Raceway Park in
Crandall, Texas
announced last
week that it
would be closing
its gates. The
announcement on
the tracks
website stated
the closure was
due to “hard
economic times
and financial
reasons.” |

Update Note:
We are looking
into using our
Compulink System
for timing next
year. The
computer may
need some
modifications or
updates only.
Next, we would
have to ditch
and lay wire for
electrical power
and for
infrareds. We
have most ...of
this equipment
already. The
surface will
need some
patching and
seal coating. We
will be
contacting
previous
sponsors for
there renewed
interest and
looking for new
sponsors. The
track will still
be a converted
portion of
shutdown area
and we don't
look to have
full out top
speed
competition as
we had on the
1/4 mile. Our
plan is to
provide a safe
and fun facility
for race
enthusiasts to
come out and
participate at
without the
possibility of
getting tickets
or vehicles
being impounded.
More of all is
to have FUN!!
See you all next
year,
2012 - 40 years
of Lubbock Drag Racing. |
