During
the track's second Precision Auto points race of the year, Charles York
(Levelland, Tx.) in his `82 Camaro coupled a .027 light with a 10.017 (9.97)
to take the Super Pro win from Russell Ramsey's (Quitaque, Tx.) 10.007
(9.98) in his `82 Camaro. Gayle Brown finished in the semi's.

Sportsman
brought out a tough field of 36 competitors to battle it out for the Craig
Hughes bonus bucks, and when the burn-out smoke cleared Bobby Fira
(Crosbyton, Tx.) in his `69 Nova was the lone racer left holding the title
and the purse. Fira dedicated his win to Big John Garcia. Wanda Roberson
(Levelland, Tx.) settled for second while Ricky Vasquez was the lone
semi-finalist. |
In
Modified, Brad Gore (Levelland, Tx.) recorded a winning .023 light and
11.304 (11.23) with his `82 Camaro over Kenny Wenzel's 11-second Blazer.
D'lyn Caddell and Robby Bunch earned semi honors. |
In
Street Class, Lyndan Devin (Plainview, Tx.) in his `70 Fairlane was the only
competitor standing in the way of a Chevy sweep, but it was not to be when
Bo Novak (Lubbock, Tx.) in his you guessed it `95 Camaro took the win.
Sabrina Jones and Luis Guzman rounded out the class. |
Nicole
Sexton (Lubbock, Tx.) won her second straight in Jr. Dragster. A starting
line advantage helped her overcome formidable foe Keiri Ferguson (Hereford,
Tx.). Ferguson defeated `04 Runner-up Sara Cortez in the semis. |
