Kevin Thorp won the Super Pro title during the latest race at Lubbock Dragway. Russell Ramsey in his `82 Camaro cut down the Tree with a .001reaction, but could not cover Thorp's .027 light and 7.629 (7.62). Warren Farmer and Eldon Russ were the semi-finalists.
In Sportsman, Don Mandrell wheeled his 10 second Nova to victory over Lee Polk's `77 Vega. Don Sexton, 2005 King of the Track Champion, and Ricky Pope were the class semis.
Gary Metcalf took his `72 Duster to the Modified title, beating Peter Asjes ' `69 Chevy P.U. on a double break-out decision. Asjes had a slight starting-line advantage, but Metcalf committed the lesser foul at the stripe, 12.121 (12.14) to 12.547 (12.60). Chris Hoppel settled for third with a .007 light and 14.020 (14.06).
In Street, first time racer Deni Pruiett drove her Chevy P.U. to the Tuff Shed Winners Circle. Pruiett ran a 16.581 (16.58) to defeat hard-hitting Lyndan Devin who coupled a .048 light and a 13.827 (13.83). John Wood was the lone semi.
Kevin Hendley seems unstoppable in Diesel as he scored his third win of the season.
Tyler Thorp edged out Brandon Brewer in the Jr. Dragster finals. Regan Webb and Heath Kiser were the class semis.
