With most of Texas under water,
Lubbock Dragway was able to complete its fifth points race. Even
though racers have been idle for over a month the competition
was fierce with dead-on dials and killer reactions. |
Powering
her Dragster, Amber Rose ruled the track in Super Pro with a
.009 light and a 7.808 (7.80) at 164.23 m.p.h. to edge out
Milton Jordan's `77 Vega who also had a .009 light but ran a
9.465 (9.44). Russell Ramsey was the lone semi. |
In
Sportsman it was another great match up. Points leader Steve
Milam Jr., in his pavement ripping `66 Chevelle, blasted a 9.788
(9.78) at 135.27 to claim the title over B.J. Cruz, 2006 Class
Champ, who had the starting line advantage with a .009 light but
broke out with a 11.732 (11.74). Don Sexton took the third spot. |
Brody
Miller came out on top in Modified by defeating Richard
Marmolejo. Braden Gore rounded out the top three. |
Angie
Wenzel, in her `80 Camaro, was on her game in Street. Wenzel ran
a 12.159 (12.15) to beat Kevin Hendley in the semis and a 12.146
(12.14) in the finals to crush her good friend Alfonso Acevedo,
Jr. Tyler Derryberry was also a class semi. |
Sara
Cortez is no stranger to the Precision Winners' Circle in Jr.
Dragster. Cortez ran a 8.213 (8.20) but got the automatic win
after Brandon Brewer went a pink -.002 and a 8.695 (8.67).
Alannah Pichla made a valiant effort and was rewarded with a top
three finish. |
In
the Eighth Mile consolation race John Pichla notched a win over
Peter Asjes who in four rounds of opposition ran on his dial
twice and had no reaction slower than a .018 light. That's what
a call stiff competition. |
