Lubbock Dragway was host to the Jr.
Dragster Challenge and these kids brought their A-game. |
In
the 13 to 15 yr. old bracket, Brandon Brewer was brutal on the
tree with a .009 light and 8.655 (8.62) run to take the win over
a valiant effort from Sara Cortez who had a .098 light and 8.239
(8.20) blast. Sean Blagrave and Dakota Kiser were the class
semis. |
In
the 8 to 12 yr. old bracket, dominating Dustin Douglas coupled a
.055 light and 8.990 (8.97) pass to edge out Kevin Hughes
outstanding effort. Kevin Brown was the lone semi-finalist. |
Chris
Bandy took top honors in Super Pro in the latest event at
Lubbock Dragway. Bandy and his `69 El Camino nailed a .013 light
and ran an 11.407 (11.41) to beat Milton Jordan's 9.406 (9.45)
`77 Vega. Lynton Garret claimed the third spot.

Ted
Cochran, in his `70 Camaro, fought through a tough field of
competitors to collect the biggest purse of the night in
Sportsman. In the finals, Cochran ran a 10.954 (10.96) to edge
out Ricky Pope’s `70 Monte Carlo 11.211 (11.22). Grace Skelton
rounded out the top three.

Modified
Champion Nicole Sexton wheeled her Sexton Automotive `69 Camaro
to the winners circle over Rusty Hopper who was on the worse
outcome of a double break-out. Peter Asjes was the class semi. |
In
Street, Kevin Hendley in his `01 Ford F250 added a class title
to all his Diesel wins. Beau Novak fell victim to Asleep at the
Tree Syndrome and ran a 13.801 (13.91) to runner-up. Alfonso
Acevedo, Jr. was the lone semi. |

Tidwell picked up his first win in Diesel Class. |
